Women's wrestling team wins second straight 3C2A State Championship

The Cerritos College women's wrestling team has won every championship in its two seasons of existence. The team won its second straight 3C2A State Championship at Sacramento College on April 18, with three individual state champions and 175 team points... Cerrritos Complete 8th cohort

Cerritos Complete celebrates its eighth cohort

The Cerritos Complete Promise Program (CCPP) recognized the eighth cohort of students who completed all program requirements and received two years of free tuition on April 24. CCPP is a student success initiative of the college that focuses on students' commitment to earning and completing their degrees or certificates on time. The students began working with the program during their senior year of high school and completed all the eligibility steps. At the inaugural ceremony, around 160 students and their families were present to see each student receive a medallion to wear at commencement. Of the students, 61% will transfer to a four-year university, 14% will complete a certificate or an AA/AS degree, and 25% will stay for a third year.

Military Ball celebrates graduating student veterans

The Veterans Resource Center and the Student Veterans Club hosted the Military Ball on April 26. Attended by guests, including elected officials, college officials, community partners, and family, the evening recognized nine graduating student veterans' milestones with dinner prepared by Culinary Arts, a cake-cutting ceremony, a photo booth, and dancing.

APIDA awareness week lunchon

Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Awareness Week celebrates cultures and heritage

The APIDA Committee celebrated Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Awareness Week from April 30-May 3. On May 1, a luncheon co-hosted by Human Resources featured guest speaker Irene Tsukada-Simonian, a third-generation owner of a gift shop in Little Tokyo called Bunkado that has been open since 1946.  She shared her journey of discovering her Japanese American identity through her family's history of owning Bunkado and highlighted the resilience and cultural pride of the Japanese American community. The week-long festivities featured additional presentations and activities around kung fu, k-pop, identity, and mental health.
