Dr. Robert D. (Bob) Kreger

Professor of Geography

and

Chair of the Earth Science and Geography Department

at Cerritos College

Course work in Earth Science and Geography at Cerritos College prepares students for transfer to Colleges and Universities throughout the Los Angeles area, and beyond. The courses we routinely teach satisfy General Education transfer requirements to the University of California, and/or to the California State University systems in the Physical Science and Social Science areas. What follows is a brief description of the courses offered in Geography. For added information regarding our faculty and or the courses they teach, please follow the Department web link. Geography 101 is an introduction to Physical Geography. This class is routinely taught by both the full time and part time faculty of our department. Physical Geography is taught online and traditionally. Geography 101L is our 1-unit Physical Geography field/laboratory class taught by Crystal LoVetere. Geography 102 is introductory Cultural Geography, and it too is taught by Ms. LoVetere. Geography 105 is our World Regional Geography course. This course, like Geography 101, is taught by both full and part time faculty members. Geography 257 ( a course about the geography and the war in Vietnam) is a course that I no longer offer however I have left a link to an extensive bibliography attached to the page that visitors may find useful. With the exception of Geography 257, each geography course is offered at various times every semester. We also offer Earth Science (ESCI)106. ESCI 106 is an online Weather and Climate course using licensed materials from the American Meteorological Society. This course is offered once per academic year in the Spring term and is taught by Ms. Meg McQuarrie. The Earth Science and Geography Department is dedicated to student success. Our faculty work diligently to insure that our students leave our classes prepared to transfer to the next level in their academic training.
