Something About Me: To my mother's merriment, I was born in San Diego's Mercy Hospital on October 27th, 1946. I spent my youth playing baseball (I actually thought I had a shot at the BIGS), and in the surf and sand of Southern California's beaches while in a mindless way exploring the streets and back alleys of Lemon Grove and San Diego, California and Ciudad Tijuana of Baja California. In the Spring of 1966, at age 19, I dropped out of Grossmont Community College to join the United States Army in order to see the world, but only found Vietnam (twice!). This, of course, delighted my parents beyond words!!?? Later, in the Spring of 1972, I and the Army parted company and after several failed attempts to become rich in America's Midwest, I came to my senses (somewhat) and went back to college. I was thirty-four years young at that time. To this day, I have not stopped learning, growing and teaching. I am married to a wonderful woman, Maria, from Ciudad Palencia, Espana. Maria has her Masters from CSULB in Spanish and teaches Spanish in the evenings at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa. I have two step-sons, Christian, and David. Maria and I are blessed with a awe-inspiring grandson, Sinjin. Both of my step-sons are remarkable young adults with incredible futures. Personal
