Introduction to Physical Geography This is a survey course focused on studies of the Atmosphere, Biosphere, Hydrosphere, and Lithosphere. Geography 101 is intended to introduce students to a wide variety of natural and physical processes at work throughout the world shaping our Earth's landscapes. Topics covered include: weather and climate (including severe weather), atmospheric wind and circulation patterns, the circulation of water throughout the Earth, the spatial distribution of plants and animals across the earth's surface, mountain building, earthquakes, and volcanoes, erosion by wind and water, glaciers and coastal landforms. We offer many sections, both traditional and online versions, of this course each semester. We also offer this class in Summer session, normally in the first 6-week session. Sections of this course are also routinely offered as a part of the Cerritos College Scholars Honors Program.
