Write two research papers, each a minimum of five pages.  The works-cited list for each paper should include at least five sources. 

Research paper 1:  analyze and interpret Flannery O Connor’s “A Good Man I s Hard to Find”

Research paper 2:  define magical realism and show that Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings” is an example of magical realist fiction

            For each research paper, prepare a work-in-progress.  The work-in-progress includes an annotated works-cited list and an abstract. 

            Annotated works-cited list:  compile a list of at least five sources; write a one-paragraph summary of each source

            Abstract: write a one-page summary of your research paper

Aug.      2     annotated works-cited list and abstract

              9     Research paper 2
