Topic: analyze and interpret Bobbie Ann Mason's "Shiloh"

Goal: write a minimum five-page research paper, with a works cited page that lists at least three sources

The research project will consist of two parts: 1.) work in progress; 2.) research paper.  Fifty percent of the research project grade will be based on the work-in-progress (including an annotated works-cited list and an abstract); the other fifty percent will be based on the research paper.  The research paper must be at least five pages, typed, follow the MLA format, and include a works-cited page listing at least three sources.   All research work will be kept in a manila folder.  The research project folder will be collected toward the end of the semester and must include the work-in-progress as well as the research paper. 

Summaries of sources: summarize the main ideas of the researched material; state the thesis and summarize how the thesis is explained and proven; summarize at least three sources.

Abstract: write a one-page summary of the main points of your research paper; state your thesis and the points of your thesis
