Anatomy and Physiology

Students may receive credit for AP120
OR for AP120 AND AP150/AP151
OR for AP120 AND AP200/201

It is strongly recommended that students take AP120 before AP150 or AP200 but it is not required.

AP120 - Introduction to Human Anatomy & Physiology (4 units)

3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab weekly

This course is a lab class designed as a survey of human anatomy and physiology. It covers the basic principles of human anatomy and physiology including a survey of the tissues, organ systems, and principal anatomical features. This course is designed primarily for non-biology majors. To enroll you must have passed English 52 with a grade of "Credit" or C or higher, or have satisfactorily completed the English Placement Process.

Typically, Cerritos College offers one morning lecture section with 3 afternoon lab sections of AP120 as well as one evening lecture with 2 evening lab sections.

AP150 - Introduction to Human Anatomy (4 units)

3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab weekly

This course examines the gross and microscopic anatomy of the human body using a systems approach.
AP150 is designed for pre-nursing students however, it also meets the needs of other allied health programs and physical education programs. To enroll you must have passed English 100 or its equivalent with a grade of "Credit" or C or higher. AP120 is recommended.

Typically, Cerritos College offers two daytime lecture sections with a total of 5 associated lab sections of AP150 and one evening lecture section with 2 lab sections in the fall semester. Spring semester there is typically only one lecture section (daytime) with 4 lab sections.

AP151 - Introduction to Human Physiology (4 units)

3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab weekly

This course studies the normal functioning and integration of the organ systems in the human body. Homeostatic imbalances of many systems are examined. The course is designed for pre-nursing students; however, it also meets the needs of the allied health programs and physical education program. To enroll you must have passed AP150 with a grade of "Credit" or C or higher. Chem100 or its equivalent is strongly recommended.

Typically, Cerritos College offers one lecture section of AP151 during the day in the fall semester with 2 associated lab sections. In spring semester, there are usually two daytime lecture sections with a total of 3 lab sections and one evening lecture section with 2 associated lab sections.
