A beginning course designed to develop proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing, and to promote a basic understanding of Hispanic cultural patterns. The course is designed to provide the second year student with the capacity for oral and written communication in the language. Spanish will be used as much as possible to facilitate the learning of the language.
Demonstrate acquisition of new vocabulary and grammatical concepts -distinguish basic grammatical errors in Spanish from English usage -demonstrate a general knowledge of customs, culture and civilization of Spanish-speaking countries
Workbook: Mendez-Faith, Z.Habla Espaiiol? Workbook and Laboratory Manual Laboratory:l 5 hours required. Failure to complete hours will result in an incomplete. Students are responsible for all material presented in class, including announcements about changes in course procedures.
Dictionaries: Spanish-English/English-Spanish Computer usage knowledge is optional but recommended
You are responsible for all material presented in class, including announcements about course procedures.Exams, quizzes, language practice and homework often include questions on material presented only in class, so performance on these indirectly reflects attendance. Attendance represents 1 Ol/. of your class grade. Missing one class means 2% of the grade, twice means 5% of the grade and three times means 1 0% of the grade. Students will be dropped from the class after the third unexcused absence. In addition please refer to the Cerritos College Catalog for excessive absences policy.
