Placement

ANY STUDENT WHO NEEDS A PLACEMENT IN ENGLISH/ESL AND MATH,

CAN TAKE THE SRT (SELF-REPORT TOOL) ONLINE.

SRT Steps Online

Welcome to the Self-Report Tool (SRT) FOR ENGLISH/ESL AND MATH PLACEMENT

What is the Self-Report Tool (SRT)?

The SRT is an online questionnaire which provides new, first-time college students with the opportunity to place directly into transfer level English, ESL or Math courses based on their United States high school records. There are two sections: one for English/ESL and one for Math.

How long does it takes to complete the SRT?

The SRT takes about 15-25 minutes to complete.

What do I need in order to take the SRT?

  1. Submit an admissions application for the semester in which you will be enrolling in classes.
  2. Your 7-digit Cerritos College student ID number
  3. A personal email. Students will receive a confirmation of the SRT submission by the email provided.

It is strongly recommended that students have access to their United States high school transcripts  to accurately answer some of the the SRT questions.

Official or unofficial transcripts are accepted.

Here are a couple of ways students can request a copy of their high school transcripts:

  • By logging in to their high school portal.
  • Make the request in person at their high school's main office.

The following students are not required to provide a high school transcript:

  • Dual Enrollment Students
  • International Students
  • Students who have graduated from high school more than ten years ago.
  • Students who completed the G.E.D or HiSet.
  • Students who graduated school in another country.

What is my next step after taking the SRT?

If you have not completed the New Student Orientation, please login into your MyCerritos account and complete the online orientation.

For questions about course(s) selection and degree requirements, it is recommended that you meet with an academic counselor. Visit the Counseling Department website for more information at  http://www.cerritos.edu/counseling/

Prior to leaving the Assessment Center, you will fill out a "Recommendation Checklist" to record your placement information. Please bring the checklist with you when you meet with a counselor.

When will my SRT placement results post on my unofficial transcript?

It may take 1-3 business days for the placement results to post on your unofficial Cerritos College transcript.

Please allow at least one business day for a response.
