Creative Writing for Older Adults

Tuesday's Class focuses on writing prompts, techniques, and exercises for kick-starting your writing.

Thursday's Class offers you an opportunity to read your stories aloud to a receptive and responsive group of fellow-writers.

Course Description:

This course is designed to introduce the older adult to techniques for creative writing in the areas of drama, poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. Techniques for a complete autobiography will be taught. This course may be repeated.

  • What can you learn from looking back over your life's journey?
  • What legacy will you leave to your children?
  • This class will help you overcome some of the hurdles that have kept you from telling the stories of your life. Using your own memories, you will learn techniques for successful writing, organizing, and preserving your stories. Learn strategies for improving your writing; share your stories and be inspired by the stories of fellow writers. Emphasis is on personal writing and the discussion of a wide variety of topics.

If you love to write, or even if you just love to hear a good story, join us on Thursdays as we learn to reflect on the past and share our stories in the company of fellow writers.
