All EDT courses for the summer session require a CD. You MUST purchase the CD from the Cerritos College Bookstore prior to beginning the course assignments.  Note that all classes have an assignment the first module.  You will use TalonNet (http://talonnet.cerritos.edu) to access the syllabus, tests/quizzes, discussions, assignments, grades, and drop box.

The first time you access your course site, you should read any announcements, the Syllabus, and FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions).  Also, every time you access your site, be sure to check for announcements that may have been posted that might affect you.

The Syllabus contains important information about your class.  You will take a quiz on the Syllabus during the first Module.  This is an “open book” quiz and you are encouraged to refer to the Syllabus as you take the test.  The quiz is NOT timed and so you should have plenty of time to look up each answer.  The Syllabus quiz IS part of your grade for your course.

The Assignment page is the page that lists all assignments, lectures, due dates, and point value for the assignment for each module.  Note that all classes have an assignment the first module but it is not due until the end of Module 2 (along with the Module 2 assignment).  All assignments will close at 11:55 p.m. of the date indicated and is due by midnight.  Assignments need to be uploaded to the Drop Box for grading.  If the assignment is uploaded after midnight, you will lose half credit for the points you would have earned had the assignment been uploaded on time.  If the assignment is uploaded after midnight of the following due date, no credit will be given for the assignment.  All assignments must be completed using the appropriate software and uploaded to the Drop Box.  Note that you cannot use Microsoft Works for any of the assignments.

If you have a question or concern about the course, send me an email.  Your email must include in the Subject line the course name/number, your full name, and the Module or assignment number for which you are sending the email.  For instance,

Subject:  EDT104, Maria Murillo, Module 1

If you need assistance because you do not understand an assignment or have a question as to how to do something, please type HELP in the Subject line before the course number and your name.  Remember to check the FAQs prior to emailing for assistance in the event that your question is answered there.  Also, please note that typing in all capital letters is considered to be shouting and is RUDE.  Please use upper and lower case letters in your email.  The only word that should be typed in all capital letters is the word “help” if you need assistance.

If you have problems accessing the course materials, please click on Help on the TalonNet navigation bar.  Read the Help area first.  If you do not find an answer to your question, then send an email to:  sakaisupport@cerritos.edu. Be sure to include your name, email address, and a detailed description of the problem you're having. Any details you can add to your message, such as your browser and operating system, make it easier for us to help you.

There will be discussions beginning in Module 2 for all courses.  This is your class participation and you are expected to post clear, thorough comments to the discussion topic or to the remarks from other students.  Make sure, however, that if you comment on another student’s comments that you still address the discussion topic.  You will receive a grade for class participation based on the points earned for each discussion.

If you have any questions or problems regarding the course materials, please feel free to contact me.
