Career Services Center

The Cerritos College Career Services provides programs and services
designed to assist you
in moving forward with confidence, new skills, and strategies for
success. The Career Services
Center provides Assessment-Testing, Career Planning, Job Placement, the
CalWORKs Program
and Re-Entry Resources to assist students and alumni in exploring and
planning their academic
and vocational futures.
Assessment-Testing
is administered in the Career Services Center. Computerized assessments are
available for English and Reading. Math and ESL placement are
available in pencil-paper form. Results
are used for advisement in selecting classes.
The Career Center provides the
opportunity to explore career options. A number of sophisticated
computerized
search programs are available as well as up-to-date information about
careers. Students are encouraged to take
advantage of the interests, values, and abilities inventories that are
available to them in the Career Services Center.
A career counselor will interpret the career assessment results and assist
you in choosing a career or major. These
services are available for individuals who are currently enrolled, who have
graduated, or who hold certificates from
Cerritos College.
Job Placement provides services
to both employers and students. Employment listings are available in the
Career
Services and currently enrolled students as well as Cerritos College
graduates/certificate holders are eligible
to take advantage of the service.
The CalWORKs (California
Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids) program is the state's new
welfare-to-work
program for families with dependent children. The goal of this program
is to assist students in becoming fully
self-supporting through short-term training, education, career counseling
and work experience. At Career Services
participants receive employment assistance and job placement services as
they transition off welfare into full-time jobs.
The Reentry Resource Program
assists adults returning to school make a smooth transition, over barriers
unique to
returning adults, and successfully attain their college goals and
objectives.
