Current Announcements

I have retired from Cerritos effective May 20, 2005.  I'm going to leave this web site up for a while in case colleagues or former students can use any of this info.

Dr. Alan Jones has posted a couple of programs for studying earthquakes and volcanoes that are a free download from his web page.  We will be using Seismic-Waves in class, which should bring to life some of the concepts discussed in chapter 6.  Seismic-Eruptions plots earthquakes and volcanoes in a map view, and can be updated with new events.  Click on the link below to take you to his home page:

If you saw the recent Fox special on the supposed faking of the moon landings, have a look at what Dr. James Scotti (University of Arizona astronomer) has to say about them for a more skeptical viewpoint:

The Moon Landings Were Not Faked

The American Geological Institute has two new publications out for teachers.  EarthComm, Earth System Science in the Community is aimed at grades 9-12, while Investigating Earth Systems is for grades 5-8.  For ordering information, visit It's About Time Publishing.
