HP gave a presentation about new
hardware & software. We discussed
the features of Vpro and the DC7700. Cerritos College has not been happy with the
imaging and other software solutions provided with the DC7600, so we discussed
some options. Fatima is no longer going
to be our rep, and Kevin Kim was introduced and will be taking over our
account. We discussed making sure the
new hardware, which we plan on keeping for 5 years, being compatible with Vista
and Office 2007.
After
discussion, it was recommended by Lee Krichmar and the committee supported the
decision that we would support changing our services over to GST E-Systems with
the new DC7700. We used to work with GST
when the built our white boxes, and had a very good historical experience with
them. HP supported this decision and GST
will review the pricing and at minimum match HP’s pricing.
Lee
Krichmar will work with Patrick on coordinating the image and details to make
this happen before the retirement of the DC7600.
The
following email was sent by Lee Krichmar on 11/16/06 to notify the team and
recruit electronic input. All positive
input from committee members was received.

We
received the final pricing on the new HP DC7700, which was very nice. Please review the pricing below.
My
recommendation is to "drop" the top 3 options and standardize on the
4th PC in this list, which has a Lightscribe DVD
burner! They gave us a very aggressive
price on that option, and since our campus will be using these for the next 5
years, I suggest we go with this. It is
a great buy.
If
you object, please email me ASAP.
Otherwise, I will move forward in publishing this on our web & will
work with Purchasing so they are aware of our changes.
The
demo HP DC7700 computer is in our area now.
If you would like to see and/or test this unit, please contact Mario at

For
those of you that missed our last meeting, we made the decision to have GST
image our PC's rather than HP from now on.
This will not cost us any additional money, and should be much more
efficient.
