Six Students Win Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards
Six Cerritos College students recently received Live Your Dream Awards presented by
Soroptimist International of Artesia-Cerritos.
First place winner Christina Lizarraga received a $1,500 cash award, a two-night stay at a Big Bear lake-front resort, and mentoring in her career goal of criminal justice. Second place winner Beatriz Ortiz received a $1,000 cash award and mentoring in her career goal of nursing. Patsy Karinna Rodriguez, third place winner, received a $500 cash award and mentoring in her career goal of psychology. Other winners were Veronica Lopez ($200 cash award), Nichole Kinzy ($150 cash award), and Anyssa Avalos ($150 cash award).
The Live Your Dream Award is Soroptimist International’s signature program held each year by Soroptimst clubs, districts, and regions around the world. Awards are given to women who are heads of household, low income, in college or vocational school with a clear career goal, and who have had life challenges
“We are very proud of all the award winners and the successful track they are on for college degrees and successful careers,” said Gayle Reidy, Live Your Dream Awards Chair. “Our Club’s awards will be a boost to each winner in achieving their goals.”
