Cerritos College welcomed 600 new high school graduates into its Cerritos Complete program that began this fall semester. Cerritos Complete is the College’s new student success initiative that focuses on students’ pledge to “earn” and complete their degrees or certificates on time. In exchange, the College will provide up to 800 students from local high schools with a merit-based scholarship for a tuition waiver or a $200 book voucher for one year... The Cerritos College Foundation’s 31st Annual Golf Classic held on August 1 was a true hole in one. The event raised $78,800 for student scholarships, and for the first time in its 31 years, the tournament had a golfer score a hole-in-one on the prize hole. The winner received a 2016 Hyundai Genesis from the Hole in One Sponsor Norm Reeves Hyundai. Alexandria Maldonado was homeless at the age of 14 due to her parents’ challenge with alcohol and abuse. She was forced to move from place to place, living with her grandparents, her uncle, aunt, and cousins. Despite her unstable living conditions, Alexandria committed to staying at her same high school so she could graduate on time. With her determination and hard work, she obtained a full, need-based scholarship and enrolled at the University of California, Irvine, but... Cerritos College is ranked among the top 100 two-year colleges with the highest alumni salaries in the United States, according to the 2015-16 college salary report by PayScale.com. PayScale ranked more than 460 two-year schools by alumni salaries. The College is ranked 97, boasting graduates that earn $58,500 in their mid-career. Nearly 60 percent of Cerritos College alumni think their work is a high-meaning job, contributing to making the world a better place...
