National Manufacturing Day Inspires Students

Manufacturing Day demonstration at Woodworking DeptThe Technology Division hosted an open house for National Manufacturing Day on October 7. Nearly 300 students and educators from local school districts, and professionals from various industries participated. The event showcased the advanced manufacturing, Automotive technology, engineering design technology, new product development, machine tool technology, plastics/composites, woodworking, and welding departments.

Careers in science, engineering, technology, and math will drive the next generation of U.S. innovation and economic growth. To prepare, the College’s focus on workforce training in competitive fields such as technology, manufacturing and engineering is more crucial than ever. The College is building a pipeline to companies that want to stay competitive with highly skilled workers. Los Angeles County remains the largest center for manufacturing jobs and workforce in the country.

On National Manufacturing Day, many American manufacturers and educational institutions opened their doors and inspire young people to pursue careers in manufacturing and engineering by showcasing manufacturing in creative ways.
