Cerritos College Celebrates Veterans Week

Veterans Day tug of warIn honor of Veteran’s Day, Cerritos College held a week-long celebration from November 7 – 10 to honor veterans.

The festivities included the Veterans Resource Center open house, a tug of war challenge, and a photo opportunity with a military vehicle, complete with the Veteran’s Day Ceremony on November 10. Students, staff, faculty and community members gathered to commemorate the service and sacrifice of veterans who have protected our nation.

Student and alumni speakers shared their experience about transitioning from military life to living as a civilian, and how Cerritos College and the Veterans Resource Center have provided them with critical support.

At the end of the ceremony, student veterans performed 22 pushups to raise awareness about veteran suicide prevention. Twenty-two represents the number of veterans that commit suicide each day. Following the 22 pushup challenge, participants enjoyed free lunch.
