APIDA Awareness Week Embraces Cultures and Understanding

Cerritos College celebrated the Asian Pacific Islander Desi Awareness week from January 23-26. A week full of events featured a movie screening, calligraphy workshop, henna tattoo, K-pop dance workshop, and bystander intervention training. These events brought cultural awareness to the campus community.

Club Rush Promotes Student Clubs and Campus Involvement

New and continuing students were treated to a special welcome-back-to-school tradition with a free pizza by Frantone's at ASCC's Club Rush on January 24. Clubs provided information to students to get involved on campus with fun activities, displays, and demonstrations.

Women's Wrestling Kicks Off Inaugural Season

The Cerritos College women's wrestling team opened its inaugural season, splitting two dual meets on January 27. The Falcons (1-1) opened with a 42-12 loss to Menlo College and followed with a 33-25 victory over Vanguard University. At the Cerritos Freestyle Open on January 28, the team had two individual champions, 155-pound Aine Drury (Westminster HS) and 170-pound Nile Jernigan (Cerritos HS/University of the Cumberlands). Retirees Sheela Hoyle, Mario Morales, and Gilbert Rodriguez Recognized

The Cerritos College Board of Trustees recognized retirees Sheela Hoyle, counselor; Mario Morales, senior electronics system technician; and Gilbert Rodriguez, information security analyst, for their many years of service to the College on January 25. Thank you for your service and best wishes in your retirement!

Teacher TRAC Kicks-Off the Spring 2023 Semester

Teacher TRAC hosted a spring 2023 Kick-Off event on January 26. Faculty and managers learn about what’s new with the program and re-engaged around the unique and critical role community college plays in the teaching profession. The event featured a guest speaker Dr. Steve Bautista, counselor/coordinator of the Center for Teacher Education at Santa Ana College.
