Cerritos College Students Are Completing Their Education Faster than Ever Before

Cerritos College is shortening students' time to complete their degrees, according to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) 2022 data feedback report. The number of Cerritos College students graduating within two years has doubled over the last five years, and students graduating within three years have increased by nearly 50 percent. Military Ball Celebrates 13 Graduating Student Veterans

The Veterans Resource Center and the Student Veterans Club hosted the Military Ball on April 28. Attended by more than 100 guests including elected officials, college officials, community partners, and family, the evening recognized 13 graduating student veterans' milestones with dinner prepared by Culinary Arts, a cake-cutting ceremony, a photo booth, and dancing. Student speaker Faustino Gonzalez Enriquez shared his journey returning to school after serving the country and congratulated the graduates for their accomplishments.

Student Journalists Celebrate “Golden” Moments

Cerritos College's Talon Marks newspaper team recently won the best two-year college news website award at the annual Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) Spring National College Media Conference in San Francisco, capturing the honor for two years in a row. Falcon Women's Wrestling Wins Inaugural CCCAA State Championship

WMPD Radio Student Joelee Francos Wins National Award

Student Joelee Francos won the David L. Adams Apple Award for Best Podcast for her drama series The Esoteric Realm at the College Media Association’s Spring National College Media Convention in New York. The Esoteric Realm is her original sci-fi/satire drama. "I never thought I would win, let alone even runner up as I am my biggest critic. It brings me great joy to know it was liked and pushes me to keep going and creating more raw stories of dystopia," said Joelee, who triple-majors in history, social and behavioral sciences, and theatre arts. She will be transferring to CSULB in the fall to pursue history and possibly theatre arts as well.

Earth Day Draws Over 400 Community Members

Cerritos College hosted an Earth Day Festival on April 22 to celebrate planet Earth and raise awareness about environmental issues. Attended by more than 400 community members, the free event featured carnival games, food, giveaways, and crafts including shaved ice, pottery painting, and bird feeder painting.

Alumni Filmmakers Inspire Current Film Students

Former film students and award-winning filmmakers Michael and Larry Ervin talked to current film students via zoom. Michele and Larry, who were working as professionals in other fields, shared their journey of having taken film production classes at Cerritos College and going on to making their films under their SilentNoise Productions banner and the challenges they’ve faced... Festool Recharged Event Visits Cerritos College Woodworking

Festool, an international high-end tool manufacturer, visited the Woodworking Department on April 13 to showcase its latest technology to students and the woodworking community. More than 150 students and community members attended the event, including a high school woodshop class from San Jacinto High School in Hemet, California. College to Host 65th Annual Commencement Ceremony on May 19

Cerritos College will hold its 65th annual commencement ceremony to honor its graduating students on Friday, May 19 at 5:30 p.m. in Falcon Stadium. The College will present  associate degrees and skills certificates to students who completed their course of study during the 2022-2023 academic year. Students will transition to some of the nation’s top colleges and universities, including UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, California State Universities Dominguez Hills, Northridge, Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Fullerton, among others...
