Awesome Campus Highlights from Spring 2023 Semester

Cerritos College made a lot of exciting progress toward student success in the spring 2023 semester, including the legislative advocacy efforts toward student housing, approval of the bachelor's program in dental hygiene, receiving the Equity Champion award for excelling in equitable course placement in Black English enrollment, and many more. Press-Telegram Readers Select Cerritos College’s Cosmetology Program as Best Choice

Long Beach Press-Telegram readers voted Cerritos College’s cosmetology program the best choice for its annual Reader's Choice award. The Long Beach Press-Telegram and Grunion Gazette host the Reader’s Choice contest each year, inviting its 64,000 readers to vote for their favorite businesses and organizations. This marks the College’s first Best Reader’s Choice Award. Link to the full story about cosmetology

Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration Recognizes Influences of Hip Hop

The Black Excellence Collaborative (BEC), the Umoja Success Program, and Associated Students of Cerritos College (ASCC) hosted a Juneteenth celebration featuring Black History 101 Mobile Museum. Dr. Khalid el-Hakim, founder of the Mobile Museum and Professor Griff from Public Enemy spoke about the history of Hip Hop and how it has made an extraordinary impact and influence on American culture and the world. The event also showcased artifacts of Black memorabilia dating from the trans-Atlantic slave trade era to hip-hop culture.

Veterans Resource Center Celebrates Army's Birthday

The Veterans Resource Center celebrated the United States Army's birthday on June 14. Students and staff gathered to celebrate as the Army turned 248 with a cake.

Pride behind the badge The History of LGBTQ+ in law enforcement

Chief Don Mueller to Serve on Pride Behind the Badge Panel

Campus Police Chief Don Mueller will be participating in an online panel discussion Pride Behind the Badge: The History of LGBTQIA+ in Law Enforcement presented by the National Law Enforcement Museum in recognition of Pride Month. Chief Mueller will share how he found support within the profession while also sharing his experience as a law enforcement professional. Visit the website for more info and to register.

Stream LGBTQ+ Films from Kanopy for Free During Pride Month

Happy Pride Month! To celebrate and commemorate LGBTQ+ pride, students can stream LGBTQ+ films on Kanopy for free with their Cerritos login during the month of June. Enjoy!
