Long Beach native Andres Solorzano joined the United States Army in 2016 after graduating from Lakewood High School and taking a year off. “It’s something I had always wanted to do, and it has given me some of the best adventures of my life,” said Andres. 1,200 Seniors Attended Linda Sánchez’ Senior Fair at Cerritos College

Cerritos College hosted Congresswoman Linda Sánchez’ 18th Annual Senior Fair on August 4 in its new Performing Arts Center. Approximately 1,200 seniors and caregivers participated in the free event that featured health screenings, information sessions, free lunch, legal services and consultations with agencies such as the Social Security Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs and senior advocacy groups.

Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva Visits the Campus

Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva visited Cerritos College for the first time in July. She took a tour of The Village and the Falcon's Nest, and learned about the College's students-first approach and innovative academic and basic needs support programs for students from underrepresented backgrounds. Thank you, Assemblymember, for supporting our students and our continued efforts to lift them up!

Board Recognizes Women's Wrestling Inaugural State Champions

The Board of Trustees recognized the women's wrestling team for becoming the inaugural CCCAA state champions at its July 19 regular meeting. This is the first season that CCCAA offers women's wrestling, with the Falcons sweeping every award during the season and at the championships. In addition, Head Coach Dustin Kirk was voted the state's Coach of the Year, while freshman 148-pound Aine Drury was named the Most Valuable Wrestler at the state championships. Congratulations!

Retiree Bryan Leighliter Recognized

The Cerritos College Board of Trustees recognized retiree Bryan Leighliter, lead groundskeeper, for his many years of service to the College on July 19. Bryan started at Cerritos College as a student worker while he was on the College's track and field team 45 years ago. Then the engineering major became an hourly worker for two years...
