College Hosts NASA’s Engineering Design Challenge

Cerritos College hosted its fourth NASA on Campus event from August 9-12 as part of the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) program. Over a Thousand Students Join Welcome Day

The campus welcomed students to the fall 2023 semester at Welcome Day on Monday, August 14. Welcomed by President/Superintendent Dr. Jose Fierro, nearly 1,500 new and returning students enjoyed free lunch, giveaways, and games while connecting with all campus resources and services. Cosmetology Recognized by the Board of Trustees

The Cosmetology Program was recognized for being voted as Best Choice by the Long Beach Press-Telegram at the August 16 board meeting. Long Beach Press-Telegram readers voted Cerritos College’s cosmetology program the best choice for its annual Reader's Choice award in June. The program was also ranked second among the 2022 best cosmetology schools in California by Best-Universities.net.

Woodworking Students Win Exhibition Awards

Woodworking students Shirley H and Chip M entered table projects they made at Cerritos College into the "Fresh Wood" student exhibition at the Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers Fair in Las Vegas. They were two of 20 post-secondary students selected to participate in the show. The students received free travel and accommodation to attend. Additionally, Shirley won first prize, and Chip received an honorable mention for the projects they made. Congratulations, Shirley and Chip!

Chef Michael Pierini Celebrates 30 Years of Teaching at Cerritos College

Health Occupations and Culinary Arts honored an exceptional milestone for a special part of its team on August 16 - Chef Michael Pierini, who celebrated his 30th anniversary at Cerritos College. Michael has been instrumental to the Culinary Arts program, growing the program that was once under threat of extinction when he came on 30 years ago to a program that ranks sixth in the nation. Congratulations, and thank you for your dedication and hard work in serving our students.
