Jannet Malig honored for her leadership in renewable energy training

Jannet Malig, sector navigator of Advanced Transportation and Logistics, was inducted to the Clean Cities coalitions’ 2023 Hall of Fame for her commitment, leadership, and contributions to enhancing alternative fuels and advanced vehicles in U.S. transportation. College Celebrates Latinx Heritage Month

Human Resources hosted a Latinx Heritage Month celebration luncheon on October 4. The event kicked off with performances by students in the dance department, followed by President Dr. Jose Fierro's remarks highlighting the importance of closing the equity gap for the underserved to boost success among them. The program then featured a documentary about the Mendez v. Westminster case, which laid the groundwork for fighting racial inequality. Following the documentary, Interim Facilities Manager Dr. Rebecca Robertson spoke about the importance of education that the Mendez family fought for. 

High school students at Manufacturing Day

Manufacturing Day showcases technology and skilled trades programs 

Three hundred local high school students and guests visited the college's various technology programs at the Manufacturing/LCP Day on October 6. The open house showcased the college's Applied Technology & Skilled Trades Learning Career Pathway programs. California is the U.S. leader in manufacturing jobs, with 1,335,789 jobs. California has more jobs in manufacturing than 22 other states combined, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics chart.

The 17th-century (1668) French comedy centers around the age-old conflict of love and money. The miser of the title is the elderly Harpagon, a wealthy man who worries that he never has enough money. His obsession with money spells disaster for everyone around him, including his two children, Elise and Cléante. Elise is passionately in love with the penniless Valère, but her father has arranged for her to marry a wealthy old man, Anselme.
