Department Chairman Terry L. Price
explains why this seminar is so valuable to the
compositesindustry: "We've assembled experts from
all aspects of business to showhow companies in the
composites industry can succeed and profit in the 90's
andbeyond. The topics for this highly interactive one-day
seminar includeInternational Marketin g and Marketing
Research. Imports/Exports. New ProductDevelopment and
Strategic Planning." Price recently identified the
needthat entrepreneurs and executives in the composites
industry should learn howto create a blueprint for what
their company must be doing today in order tosucceed in
the competitive high ground of the future.
A popular request surveyed from attendees at past
seminars was to help themacquire an understanding of
patent law and how to bring their ideas profitablyto the
marketplace. "Because of this" Price adds,
"I'mespecially excited to announce that our keynote
speaker is nationally known H.Daniel Fuller. He
specializes in the strategic management of
intellectualproperty, trade secrets and creating market
strategies at his law firm ofChapman, Fuller and
Bollard."
Southern California is considered by many to be the
birthplace of the advancedcomposites industry over 50
years ago. The local aircraft industry was pushedto its
limits in World War II to come up with engineered
materials that werestronger, lighter and able to give
U.S. pilots air superiority over the AxisPowers--as a
result of that focused research, advanced composite
materials(ACMs) were created. Today, composites have
achieved wide use in all marketsectors--from golf club
shafts, high-performance mountain bikes,
Snowboards, electric vehicles to even the retrofitting of
bridges damaged in recentearthquakes.
"In regards to timing and location, we c onsider
this an internationalbusiness event and that it's a
perfect fit with the Southern Californiacomposites
industry. Globally, the composites industry is projected
to grow 6%annually from now until the year 2000--with
total annual demand projected toreach $175 billion. Fifty
percent of the growth in the California economy overthe
past two years can be traced to the expansion of
international tradeactivities. Our goal at the Cerritos
Composites Technology Center is to helpCalifornia
businesses get to the future first and stake out a
position of global leadership in the composites
industry."
The semiar opens at 8:00 AM with a continental
