Syllabus
Welcome to Library 100 Introduction to Library Resources. In this course, you will learn many useful research skills and become acquainted with a variety of library resources. The skills you develop in this class should help you with research for all of your classes and beyond the time you are in school.
Books: You must purchase the Introduction to Library Resources: Library 100 for Learning Communities, FYE: University Transfer House I. The lessons are very detailed and all the information you need to successfully complete your assignments is contained in the workbook. I will hand out your assignments when I come to see you in your other FYE classes.
Email: Because we are not scheduled to see each other regularly, I need to be able to contact everyone by email. It is a requirement of this class that you have an email account and that you keep the email address up to date in MyCerritos. If you need help establishing an email account or help with changing it in MyCerritos please see me or go to the reference desk. If you do not have a valid email account in MyCerritos at the end of the semester, you will lose 5 points (and you will have missed any messages I sent).
To receive credit for the class: You must earn at least 75% of the points available, you may not miss more than two assignments, and you must complete the final project (you may not skip any questions. I’m happy to help you with your assignments. If you have any trouble, please contact me. If I perceive a problem, I’ll contact you.
You will be most successful in this class if you meet the due dates. All assignments must be handed in by 10pm Monday December 15th.
Copying vs. working together: You may work with other people in the class, but that does not mean copying other people’s work. Your assignment #12 and your final project must be totally different from everyone else’s. If you are found to have copied an assignment, you will not receive credit for that assignment.
