In ALL of my classes, we have talked about the importance of generating and maintaining good credit. In California, you are entitled to ONE free credit report per year. Since there are three major credit reporting agencies, if you stagger the time between reports by the different bureaus, you can essentially obtain THREE of them per year at no cost.

Credit scores (or FICO) scores are available (after you review your credit report) for a nominal fee. Usually around $6 - $7.
It's never too early to start developing good credit -- and also never too early to start cleaning up not so good credit.
