Nothing in earth science makes sense without a basic understanding of where things are located.  Practice with basic place-name geography will pay off in any of our earth science courses.  While we work on developing this tutorial, you can begin by trying to identify the name of the mountain range in the image on the tutorial page.  For the more advanced geographers, can you name the peak immediately below Place-Name Geography on the image?
