Assignment #6 - Final Project: New Genres Please hand in this sheet with your work. Assignment Description: Experiment with alternative forms of photographic display. In particular, make (or do) one of the following: a photographic sculpture; an installation with photographic projections or prints; or a performance with slides or other forms of projection. You may collaborate or work individually. Related Reading Assignment: On being an artist by Brian Eno from A Year With Swollen Appendices, faber and faber, 1996. Assignment Objective: With this assignment the student will learn how the display of an image can "attract" or "insulate" meaning. We will endeavor to understand how installation art, performance art, and sculpture cross over into the discourse of photo-based art in a mutual exchange pregnant with possibilities. Suggestions: Simplify without trivializing. Ask yourself: Do you want your photographs to be like candles or spotlights? Organize your needs for the critique.
