Assignment #5 – Presentation of Influences


Assignment Description:
Bring in your best photography in the form of prints, slides, or digital files ready to be projected. Additionally, be prepared to talk about your influences, whatever they may be. These could include examples of music, art, literature, special people in your life, etc. and especially other photographers. Bring whatever you need to facilitate sharing these samples of intluences with the class.

If you wish the class to read anything in particular, please distribute copies one week prior to your presentation.

Assignment Objective:
Photography is a very broad medium that encompasses amateur, professional, fine-art, and photo-based art discourses. This assignment is intended to help the student become conscious of their aims, and focus on a particular practice of photography. By looking at how we got where we are, we can better understand where we are going, and where we would ideally like to go.

Suggestions:
Your presentation should last at least 15 - 30 minutes. Be prepared to answer questions. This is your opportunity to lead a discussion on whatever you think deserves merit and attention.
