Assignment Objective: The student will come away from this assignment having had exposure to a number of techniques for making 3-D photographs including: anaglyph, polarized projections, and systems requiring a stereoscope or other specialized viewers. We will venture to understand the ubiquity and limitations of 3-D photography. Visual discourses including popular and club culture, and contemporary art, will be explored. Suggestions: Stay more than armslength away from your closest subject. Use deep depth of field. If using a sliding bar, use a tripod. Take pictures that make sense in 3-D, that is to say, layer subject matter at various distances from the camera. The form of the work and the content should work together.
