Assignment # 4 - Trace and Transformation Please hand in this sheet together with your prints packed in an archival clear sleeve with museum board backing. Your prints can be whatever size you deem appropriate. Include a CD with unflattened adjustment layers, and contact sheets of your RAW files. If working hybrid (scanned negatives or transparencies), include a small 4 x 6 contact sheet provided by a commercial lab, or your original transparencies in plastic sheets. If any of the above elements are missing the assignment will be marked "incomplete." Assignment Description: Make one print with three images. For picture #1 photograph a closed window with something on the glass. Picture #2 should be composed identically to the first, however the window must be open, and the depth-of-field should be shallow (short). Picture #3 is again the same composition, however, the depth of field should be deep and the focus should be shifted to something in the distance that relates to whatever was on the glass in picture #1. Make sure the colors match for all three pictures. Assignment Objective: This assignment operates on several levels. Firstly, it acquaints us with a conceptual approach to photography. Secondly, it is a review of depth-of-field. Thirdly, we learn how to use layers and match colors in Photoshop. Suggestions: Storyboard your project ahead of time. Use a tripod. Evaluation Criteria: Craftsmanship - Sharpness Exposure Contrast Value (appropriate lightness / darkness) Needs dodging and / or burning Cleanness Aesthetic / Conceptual refinement (accomplishes assignment description and meets objective) Grade ___________ Student Name_______________________________ Teacher Comments: |
