Fact Sheet

Class Information Assignments Resources

1. What is the working title of your paper?

2. What categories is this topic indexed under? (In other words, where are you looking in the index--under "murder"? "kidnapping"?)

3. What Periodical Sources did you consult? List the titles of articles in magazines, titles of books, as well as all newspaper articles and editorials on the topic. I am looking for the titles of the articles themselves, not the titles of the index that helped you find those articles. I don't want to read, "New York Times Index." I want to read the names of the articles you have so far.

4. Where did the events take place. (Use an atlas if needed--try to find a local map if possible)

5. Who was involved in the case? (List the major figures in the case--victim, killer, detectives, etc.)

6. What was going on at the time of the events? Who was the president of the country? What were the major political stories of the time? What were the major events of the time? (Often these facts will have bearing on the case at hand. You may or may not want to use this information in your paper. You will have to decide how it fits in)

7. The amount of material on my topic is:

  1. Enormous

  2. Very Great

  3. Adequate

  4. Somewhat less than adequate

  5. Meager
