Please answer all of the questions and bring them with you to your conference. I use this feedback to help me review and revise the course. Please be honest in all of your answers. Your answers will not impact your grade in any way. The answers you write are important, but clearly explaining why you feel the way you do is critical, so please explain yourself carefully.

1. What have you learned this semester about yourself as a student and a writer? What will your next step be as you continue developing your student and writing skills? Do you feel prepared to make that next step?

2. You were asked to purchase several text books this semester: StrengthsQuest, Mindset, Responsibility at Work, and Writing with Poer.  How did you feel about each of the books? Did you enjoy them? Learn something from them? Find them useful? Please be specific about what you did or did not like about each book. If you did not buy one or more of the books, or if you did not read one or more of the books, please let me know this as well. If you didn’t buy or read them—why didn’t you?

3. For all of the reading you did this semester, you were asked to write responses. I know that this was often time consuming; however, as you look back, do you feel these responses helped you with the reading in any way? You did three  different forms of response: lists, group presentations,  and 250 word responses. How did each form of response work out for you? Which type of response did you enjoy the most? Which did you like the least? Why?

4. You did a number of formal essays (Snapshot Essay, Extended Definition, Hero's Journey Analysis, Freedom Writers Comparison). Which essay did you find the most helpful to you as you worked on developing your writing and student skills? Why? Which essay did you find least useful? Why? (Don’t confuse useful with difficult. Those are two different things.)

5. At the end of the semester, you were asked to put together a portfolio of your work. How did this process work out for you? What do you feel you learned as you worked on revising your essays and putting your portfolio together?

6. Did you use the class web site? Did you investigate the class resources? Why / Why not? Is there something that you did not find on the web site that you would like to see me develop for future classes?

7. Overall, what did you like best about the class?

8. If there was one thing you could change about the class, what would it be? (Don’t just say “less work”—that probably isn’t going to happen)

9. Is there anything else you would like to say? I would love to hear your comments!

It has been a pleasure working with and getting to know each of you this semester. Have a terrific holiday, and I will see you all in the spring!
