GRADE: See general course information. |
| CALCULATOR: A graphing calculator is required. A TI-84plus, TI-83plus, TI-86, or TI-89 would do. |

| HOMEWORK &
GROUPWORK:
Plan to spend 8 or more hours per week outside of class for reading, and doing assignments
and other problems. Read the textbook discussion on each topic, ideally before
it is covered in class. Make sure all the examples done in the textbook are
understood. Homework (HW): Unless otherwise stated, do every tenth problem in the exercises at the end of each section in a chapter. (i.e. # 1, 11, 21, etc.) Since the answers are in the back of the text, appropriate work must be shown to get credit. Turn in HW by chapter/section due dates below. Late penalties apply if HW is more than one class late. Groupwork (GW) will be assigned at the end of most classes. Groups are informal and may be changed or reformed. Additional work will be required if GW is not completed in class time. Late penalties apply if work is more than one class late. No work will be accepted after Dec. 4, 2008. |
| HELP: It is a good idea to form study groups outside of class. Enroll in AED 90.91 – Supervised Mathematics Tutoring. Go to the Academic Support Center, in the lower level of the east side of the Learning Resource Center (library building). Ask questions during the lecture. Before each lecture you can ask questions about textbook problems and examples. See me in my office. |
| ENROLLMENT: Check My Cerritos for your enrollment status. Check daily for the first two weeks. I cannot override the decisions of the admissions office. I can submit adds Aug. 24 to Aug. 28, subject to admissions approval. Your enrollment will be blocked if the prerequisites are not on the computer, or if there is a time conflict or unit overload etc. Petitioners must give me a Cerritos ID number, and should also give me telephone and email contact information. Absence causes loss of place on wait list. Friday Nov. 20, 2009*, is the last day to withdraw from the class and receive a W. I cannot assign a W grade after that deadline. If you cease to attend, withdraw by using My Cerritos, telephone, or by going to Admissions and Records, to avoid getting an F. (*Date determined by admissions office - you must confirm with that office.) |
