To create a new source member using CODE on the iSeries on campus.
First create your source member in the CODE editor or designer.
Next log onto the iSeries 400 and create a source member with the same name as your new object with the correct data type. It does not need to contain any information.
Now you can save the source member you created in CODE/400 up to the iSeries. It will ask you if you want to override the existing file. Answer yes to replace the dummy object with the real object.
Client Access needs to be loaded on your PC.
Open Excel and click on TOOLS from the menu bar at the top.
Next click on ADDINS.
Next click on BROWSE.
Now navigate to C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access\Shared\cwbtfxla.xll
Click OK.
This will result in the AS/400 data transfer icons to appear on the top toolbars. This is called the Client Access toolbar.
Once this has been done it does not need to be done again.
