Joining the class mailing list
- Enter the e-mail system. Send a message to the following address: mailserv@cerritos.edu
- Leave the subject blank.
- Your message should only contain the command to subscribe in the mailserv.
- For example:
subscribe BI-list (if using a Cerritos College email account
or an Internet Service Provider) Note: do not include the @cerritos.edu.
- You should receive a message back from the mailserv indicating that you are enrolled in
the list. Keep this message since it includes how you unsubscribe from the list. Remember
to unsubscribe from the list when this class is over.
- *Send a message to the list (BI-List or BI-list@cerritos.edu
, use the complete address if you are using an ISP.) indicating that you have joined the
list. This can be a simple message that introduces you to the members of the list or
something like that. You could share an interesting fact, hobby, or interest with members
of the list.
Note: your instructor will receive your posting to this list since she is a subscriber
of this list. Thus, you do not need to direct another message to your instructor.
When sending messages to the list (members of the class) send your message to
BI-List@cerritos.edu (note: that you can omit the @cerritos.edu is using a Cerritos
College account, but must include it is using any other internet service provider ISP.)
When replying to messages from the BI-List, when you want your answer to go to all the
member of the list (class) ALWAYS CC:BI-List@Cerritos.edu. If you simply use the command
reply, the message will only go to the person originally sending the message.
Note: This is the first portion of Lab 6 - ListServ and Mailserv. As a result you will
receive 8 Points for subscribing and sending the initial message to the list indicating
that you are now a member of the list.
