Part #1 - Access the Cerritos College Library.

The access to the Cerritos College Library is a great opportunity for all
student and faculty alike. The web browser allows you to find both books and journal
articles. The latter resource, journal articles, provides you access to not only magazines
in the our library, as well as, articles not available in our library. A large portion of
journal articles are available in full text on-line.
Enjoy this exercise in using the library through the Internet. Note that
the journal search is NOT available from off campus sites, so do this portion on campus.
Do ONE (1) of the library searches below.
- Open up Netscape and/or Internet Explorer. The initial home page is 'Cerritos College
Home Page.' If not enter the following address in the Location: box in the menu bars
of the browser. http://www.cerritos.edu/
- Move down and take the 'Cerritos College Library' link.
- Perform a search for one (1) book on a topic of your choice. Click on 'Search the
Catalog' button. Click on one of the Search buttons: 'Search by Subject',
'Search by Author', 'Search by Title', or 'Word or Words.'
- List the search topic (criteria) you choose.
- Provide one citations you found on your topic, this includes the full Bibliographical
information, location, call number and availability.
Return to the main College Library menu.
Do the next question from on campus ONLY.
- This section needs to be done from on campus.
- From the main menu click on 'EBSCO Host' to begin a journal/magazine search.
Remember a search of the journal/magazines library resources is only available from on
campus.
- Select a topic to search for articles.
- List the search topic you choose.
- You will find that some of the articles listed will have an open book before them. These
are articles which contain the full text. All articles have an abstract available.
- Include the abstract from an article you found interesting.
