In release sent out by
the California Community College Commission on
Athletics (COA), the COA, in association with the
National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic
Administrators (NATYCAA), released the fall
standings of the 2005-06 Pepsi/NATYCAA Cup, State
Associations Division.
Mt. San Antonio College leads the
2005-06 State Associations Division standings with
90.5 points, followed closely by Long Beach City
College with 82.5 points. West Valley College, Santa
Rosa Jr. College and Diablo Valley College round-out
the top-five with the Falcons in a close third with
68.5 points.
A college is awarded
points based on its teams' final positions in
post-conference competition. Each college's top-five
men's and top-five women's team results count toward
the school's overall point total. Final standings
will be announced on May 31, 2006.
NATYCAA is the
professional organization of two-year college
athletic administrators and membership is open to
all two-year institutions from throughout the
country. The criteria for the State Associations
division were developed by the COA in conjunction
with the California Community College Sports
Information Association (CCCSIA). This is the third
year that NATYCAA has sponsored a State Associations
division. Sierra College captured the inaugural
award in 2003-04, and Fresno City College won the
award in 2004-05.
The 2005-06 winners will
be recognized at the Pepsi/NATYCAA Awards Luncheon,
held during the 2006 NATYCAA Convention, June 19-20
at the New Orleans Marriott in New Orleans,
Louisiana. Awards will be presented to the top three
colleges, and the top twenty schools in the division
will receive recognition.
