Former Cerritos College football
and track athlete
Michael Bragg
has signed a two-year free agent contract to play
for the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football
League. A cornerback, Bragg was signed as an
undrafted free agent by the New York Giants in 2004,
but was released during training camp. He will get a
chance to make the Chiefs 53-man roster and will see
some time as a special teams player.
One of the best cover men in
school history, Bragg was named 1st Team All-Mission
Conference selection in 2002 for the Falcons his
sophomore year. The team played in consecutive
Strawberry Bowl games his two seasons, as they
defeated Allan Hancock College, 39-28 his freshman
year before they dropped a 35-28 decision to
Saddleback College as a sophomore. In his two years,
the Falcons went a combined 15-7. In addition to his
success on the football field, Bragg also competed
in track and field and recorded the school's
second-longest long jump his freshman year at 23'
5".
After Cerritos, Bragg transferred
to Texas A&M - Kingsville, where he earned 1st Team
All-Lone Star Conference South Division honors and
helped the Javelinas advance to the NCAA Division II
semifinals in 2003. He continued his track and field
success and earned All-America honors in the long
jump three times. |
