College freshman
Joe Terry (Long Beach Poly
HS), who was named All-American, All-Southern
California and the South Coast Conference Player of
the Year, was drafted in the 17th Round (503rd
overall) by the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday
afternoon. Terry, who led the team with a .426
batting average, also led the squad in hits (72),
runs (50), doubles (14), triples (14), home runs
(4), RBI (57), total bases (126) and slugging
percentage (.746).
Terry, who is
getting recruited by several Division I
universities, will return to play for the Falcons
next season if he does not sign with the Mariners.
Terry is the 10th Cerritos player to be drafted by
the Seattle Mariners and first since pitcher Robbie
Dominguez was a 46th Round pick in 2006. Last year,
pitcher Miguel Flores was a 16th
Round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals and is
currently in their minor league system.

will be moving on to Oklahoma Baptist University.
Second baseman
Brandon Pesante (La Mirada HS)
has also signed with Vanguard University.
