The way the California
Community College Softball Coaches Association has set
it up for the playoffs, when a lower seeded team upsets
a higher seeded team, the lowest remaining seed
continues to face the highest remaining seeded team. As
a result of #11-seeded Los Angeles Mission College
upsetting #6-seeded Long Beach City College over the
weekend, the #2-seeded Cerritos College softball team
will now face #8-seeded Saddleback College in the Super
Regional, which will be played at Nancy Kelly Field on
Saturday and Sunday. Game one of the best-of-three
series will be played at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, while
the second game is slated for noon on Sunday with a
third game to be played, if necessary.
The Falcons have faced the Gauchos twice this season and lost
both games by one run. Cerritos (37-9-1) dropped a 5-4
to Saddleback (29-12) back on February 4 and then a 4-3
decision in the first game of the San Diego City
Tournament on April 3. In fact, the second loss to the
Gauchos was the last time Cerritos has lost a game, as
they have now won 12 in a row.
