Conference Honorable Mention… Was the only
player on the team to start all 37 games last
season… Batted .256 on the season, was third on
the team with 26 runs scored and was fifth on
the team with 22 RBI… Led the team with 12
stolen bases and seven sacrifices… Had eight
multiple-hit games, including a 4-for-6 day with
three RBI and two runs scored against Compton…
In the three games against Compton, he went
8-for-14 (.571) with six RBI and five runs
scored… Had two seven-game hitting streaks
during the season… In the first one, he went
9-for-24 (.375) and was 9-for-27 (.333) in the
other… Spent most of the season as the lead-off
hitter or hit in the second spot… Did see time
in the ninth spot in the batting order and hit
.429 (6-for-14)… Played two years of baseball in
high school… Named to the Press Telegram
Dream Team and was a 1st Team
All-Moore League selection as a senior… Helped
the team win the Moore League championship and
advance to the CIF Playoffs… Is the younger
brother of former teammate Steve Luyben, who
pitched for the team last year… Likes to play
golf in his spare time… Has four other siblings
– Greg (23), Rachael (17), Hilary (16) and Mary
(13)… Is the son of Greg and Margie Luyben… Born
on May 28, 1986….. |
