Sacramento City College
scored a single runs in the second and seventh
innings and added three more in the fifth inning
before finishing off the Cerritos College baseball
team with a 5-0 win in a game played at Palomar
College on Friday. The loss dropped the Falcons to
2-3 on the season, as they close out their four-game
road trip on Saturday in a 12:00 p.m. game at San
Diego Mesa College.
Cerritos struggled at the
plate, as they were limited to just five hits and
was only able to get a runner as far as second base
twice on the day. The first time was in the seventh
inning, with the team already trailing 5-0, as
sophomore second baseman
Dan Luyben
(Lakewood HS) reached base on a walk and
moved to second base on a failed pick-off attempt.
Sophomore pinch-hitter
Brad Schwarzenbach (St. John Bosco HS)
was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and
second base before sophomore pinch-hitter
Ryan
Montgomery (La Mirada HS) grounded
out to end the inning. They also advanced a runner
to second base in the ninth inning.
Freshman pitcher
Robbie
Dominguez (El Rancho HS) allowed four
runs (three earned) in 5 1/3 innings of work and
allowed six hits, while walking three and hit two
batters. He was relieved by freshman
David
Gurbach (Aliso Niguel HS), who gave
up five singles in his 2 2/3 innings of work. At the
plate, sophomore outfielder
Phil
Van Doren (La Mirada HS), who pitched
a one-hitter the day before, went 3-for-4. |
