For the second game in a
row, the Cerritos College baseball team was held
scoreless, as host San Diego Mesa College posted a
3-0 non-conference win on Saturday. The day before,
the Falcons (2-4) were shut out by Sacramento City,
5-0. It marked the first time in school history that
Cerritos had been shut out in consecutive games.
Cerritos will look to get back on track, as they
play host to Victor Valley College on Friday at 2:00
p.m.
The Olympians scored a
single run in the bottom of the first inning off
freshman starter
Kevin
Camacho (Santa Fe HS), who allowed
all three runs in seven-plus innings of work. They
also picked up single runs in the fourth and eighth
innings. Camacho surrendered seven hits, walked one
batter and hit three while on the mound. Freshman
Lalo
Ceniceros (El Rancho HS) and
sophomore
Don
Bodewig (Brea Olinda HS) combined to
record three strikeouts in the bottom of the eighth
inning.
Offensively, the Falcons
had just four hits on the day, which included just
one hit after the fourth inning. In the ninth,
sophomore second baseman
Dan Luyben
(Lakewood HS) led off with a base hit, but
was cut down on a fielder’s choice by sophomore
outfielder
Phil
Van Doren (La Mirada HS). After the
second out was recorded, sophomore catcher
Brad Schwarzenbach (St. John Bosco HS)
was hit by a pitch, which put two men on base.
However, freshman outfielder
Jake Moore
(Palisade, CO HS) struck out to end the game. |
