The Cerritos College baseball team was selected to
compete in the Southern California Regional
Playoffs, but they found out they will have their
work cut out for them, as they were put in a play-in
round situation. The Falcons, who tied for second
place in the South Coast Conference and are 27-16 on
the season, were seeded #17 out of the 18 teams and
will have to travel to #16 Orange Coast College on
Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with the winner advancing to
the first round.
Should the Falcons win, they will have to travel
to either #1-seeded Cypress College (35-8) or
#2-seeded Riverside College (33-11) on Saturday and
Sunday for a best-of-three series, with the winner
advancing to the second round, which will consist of
two four-team double-elimination format.
The Pirates finished the regular
season with a 23-20 record and finished in fifth
place in the Orange Empire Conference. This will be
the first meeting of the season between the two
teams.
