It
may
have
taken
27
days,
but
the
Cerritos
College
baseball
team
finally
finished
off
their
12-10
South
Coast
Conference
win
at
Los
Angeles
Harbor
College.
The
team,
who
had
their
March
1
game
suspended
due
to
darkness
in
the
bottom
of
the
eighth
inning
with
Cerritos
leading,
11-10,
finally
finished
off
that
contest
with
a
big
conference
victory.
The
two
teams
then
played
their
regularly
scheduled
game,
with
the
Seahawks
breaking
a
5-5
tie
with
a
run
in
the
bottom
of
the
seventh
inning
to
record
a
6-5
victory.
The
loss
by
the
Falcons
(23-5
overall,
11-1
in
SCC)
ended
their
11-game
conference
winning
streak
and
leaves
them
with
a
two-game
lead
over
second
place
El
Camino
College,
while
LA
Harbor
is
now
15-13
overall
and
8-4
in
conference
play.
Cerritos
will
now
begin
a
home-and-home
series
with
Pasadena
City
College
on
Thursday
at
2:30
p.m.
at
Jackie
Robinson
Field,
while
the
Falcons
will
host
the
Lancers
on
Saturday
at
noon
at
Kincaid
Field.
In
the
conclusion
of
the
suspended
game,
Cerritos
picked
up
an
insurance
run
in
the
top
of
the
ninth
inning,
as
sophomore
outfielder
Andrew
Baslow
(Chatsworth
HS)
doubled
home
sophomore
outfielder
Nick
Armstrong
(Marina
HS).
In
the
bottom
of
the
ninth
inning,
the
Seahawks
were
able
to
load
the
bases
with
one
out
against
freshman
closer
Miguel
Flores
(St.
John
Bosco
HS),
but
he
rebounded
by
getting
both
Juan
Dorado
and
Marcus
Cogman
looking
at a
called
third
strike
for
the
final
two
outs
to
end
the
game
and
earned
his
state-leading
seventh
save.
Over
the
course
of
the
game,
freshman
outfielder
Anthony
Topete
(Norwalk
HS)
went
3-for-5
with
four
RBI
and
two
runs
scored,
with
Armstrong,
Baslow,
Flores
(who
started
the
game
at
third
base),
freshman
first
baseman
Trever
Blood
(La
Mirada
HS)
and
freshman
infielder
Jose
Serrano
(Artesia
HS)
each
picking
up
two
hits.
Serrano
also
drove
in
three
runs
and
walked
twice,
while
freshman
infielder
Guillermo
Garcia
(Artesia
HS)
drove
in
two
runs
and
scored
twice.
In
the
second
game,
sophomore
starting
pitcher
Robbie
Dominguez
(El
Rancho
HS),
who
picked
up
the
win
in
the
first
game,
had
control
problems
in
the
first
inning
and
allowed
two
unearned
runs
to
the
Seahawks
without
the
benefit
of a
hit.
A
throwing error
by
sophomore
catcher
Phil
Rodriguez
(Norwalk
HS),
who
was
trying
to
catch
Alex
Chavez
off
second
base,
brought
in
both
runs.
The
Falcons
did
pull
out
to a
3-2
lead
with
a
single
run
in
the
second
inning,
as
Garcia
doubled
home
Baslow,
while
they
picked
up
two
more
runs
in
the
top
of
the
fifth
inning.
Two
LA
Harbor
errors
on
the
same
play
opened
the
door
for
Cerritos
in
that
inning,
which
put
runners
on
second
and
third.
That
was
followed
by
RBI
singles
from Armstrong
and
Serrano
to
score
the
tying
and
go-ahead
runs.
It
didn't
take
the
Seahawks
long
to
regain
the
lead,
as
they
picked
up
two
more
runs
in
the
bottom
of
the
inning
and
then
went
up,
5-3
before
Dominguez
was
replaced
by
sophomore
Kevin
Camacho
(Santa
Fe
HS).
In
the
top
of
the
seventh
inning,
Garcia
led
off
the
inning
by
getting
hit
by a
pitch,
followed
by a
double
from
Armstrong.
Serrano
drove
in
Garcia
with
a
ground
out,
followed
by
another
RBI
ground
out,
this
time
from
freshman
shortstop
Jerry
Pena
(Los
Altos
HS).
LA
Harbor
then
scored
the
eventual
game-winning
run
in
the
bottom
of
the
seventh
inning
off
Camacho,
who
suffered
his
first
loss
of
the
season.
On
the
day,
Armstrong
went
3-for-5
with
a
run
scored
and
an
RBI,
while
Serrano
drove
in
two
runs.
