as
the
Falcons
posted
a
5-1
South
Coast
Conference
win
against
Pasadena
City
College
at
Jackie
Robinson
Field
on
Thursday
afternoon.
With
the
win,
Cerritos
increased
their
lead
over
second
place
El
Camino
College
to 2
1/2
games,
as
the
Warriors
had
a
bye.
The
Falcons
will
now
close
out
their
season
series
against
the
Lancers
on
Saturday,
as
they
host
them
at
noon.
In
the
fifth
inning,
freshman
outfielder
Anthony
Topete
(Norwalk
HS)
led
off
the
inning
by
reaching
on
an
error.
After
an
out
was
recorded,
sophomore
outfielder
Nick
Armstrong
(Marina
HS)
singled
before
sophomore
second
baseman
Jose
Serrano
(Artesia
HS)
drove
in
the
first
run
of
the
game
with
a
base
hit.
With
runners
on
first
and
third,
freshman
shortstop
Jerry
Pena
(Los
Altos
HS)
picked
up
an
RBI
on a
ground
out,
while
freshman
first
baseman
Trever
Blood
(La
Mirada
HS)
and
sophomore
catcher
Phil
Rodriguez
(Norwalk
HS)
followed
with
RBI
doubles.
Ortega,
who
improved
his
record
to
7-1
with
the
win,
allowed
just
two
hits
through
the
first
five
inning,
but
surrendered
his
lone
run
in
the
sixth.
In
the
stanza,
he
allowed
three
hits
and
got
out
of a
bases
loaded
jam
by
getting
the
final
out
on a
ground
ball.
Sophomore
Lalo
Ceniceros
(El
Rancho
HS)
came
on
to
pitch
the
final
two
innings
and
did
not
allow
a
hit
while
striking
out
three.
In
the
seventh
inning,
Serrano
singled
with
one
out
and
came
home
on a
double
by
Pena
to
account
for
the
team's
other
run.
On
the
day,
Serrano
went
3-for-4
with
two
runs
score,
an
RBI
and
a
walk,
while
sophomore
outfielder
Andrew
Baslow
(Chatsworth
HS)
collected
three
base
hits.
