Despite earning a share of the South Coast Conference championship and having the second most wins in Southern California (33), the Cerritos College baseball team is being sent on the road for the first round of the Southern California Regional Baseball Playoffs. The Falcons, 33-11 on the year, were seeded #9 and will travel to #8-seeded Los Angeles Pierce College for a best two-out-of-three series starting next Friday. The first game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Friday, while the first of possibly two games on Saturday will start at 12:00 p.m.
The Brahmas were champions of the Western State South Conference and are 28-15 on the year. They finished the regular season with a #20 power rating in Southern California, but because they won their conference, they are automatically seeded in the top eight spots for the playoffs. All six conference championships are seeded in the top eight for the first round, which ensures them home field advantage. As for the Falcons, they are 33-11 on the year and finished the regular season #3 in the Southern California power rating. Although they won a share of the conference championship, El Camino College was seeded ahead of Cerritos because they won their season series.
The winner of the series will travel to the highest remaining seeded team for a four-team double elimination tournament the following weekend, with the winner advancing to the state championships, which will be held on May 26-28 at Fresno City College.SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA REGIONAL PLAYOFF PAIRINGS
