Sophomore left fielder
Andrew
Baslow (Chatsworth HS) went
2-for-4 with three RBI, including a two-run single
in the bottom of the fifth inning, to lead the
Cerritos College baseball team to a 6-2 home win in
their season opener Friday afternoon. Baslow's
two-run single broke a 2-2 tie, with the Falcons
scoring another run in the inning and adding an

now host Rio Hondo College on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
Freshman starting pitcher
John
Ortega (Downey HS) allowed two
unearned runs in the top of the first inning and
then limited the Cougars to just two singles before
being removed after facing one batter to start the
seventh inning. Freshman
George
Sanchez (Gahr HS) pitched the

season.
The Falcons pulled the game to a 2-2 tie in the
bottom of the third inning when freshman third

off the inning a single before he was sacrificed to
second base by freshman designated hitter
Jr. Garcia
(Artesia HS). A base hit by sophomore
second baseman
Jose
Serrano (Artesia HS) put
runners at first and third, which set up an infield
single by Baslow, which scored Flores. Sophomore
catcher
Phil
Rodriguez (Norwalk HS)
followed with a run-scoring single.
In the decisive fifth inning, Flores, once again,
led off the a single, followed by an infield hit by
Garcia. After Flores was safe at third base on a
fielder's choice by Serrano, Baslow laced his
two-run single to right-center and took second base
on the throw to third. Rodriguez followed with a
sacrifice fly to give the Falcons a 5-2 lead.
Ortega went six innings and allowed five base hits
while striking out five and walked two. As for
